Changing of the Royal Guards, Gyeongbok Palace

A must-do in any palace, anywhere in the world – to experience the Changing of the Royal Guards!

Most palaces in Seoul have scheduled sessions for the ceremony and I have been to two – one at Gyeongbokgung, the other at Deoksugung.

Gyeongbokgung’s ceremony felt much grander probably because of the large ground space in the palace itself. ×

Built during the Joseon-era, Gyeongbok Palace also known as Gyeongbokgung is the largest of the five grand palaces. The palace was home to the Kings of Joseon dynasty.

The palace is huge and even with the large amount of visitors it welcomes, you can still feel the tranquility. It is one of my favourite palaces to visit in Seoul. ♥
